Bohol Earthquake

It was really hard to accept this, I don't even know that this would be happening to our neighbor country. When I saw on TV ,it was really shocking me . I need a million time to believe it. I saw many corpses out there ,it was like the sea of corpses where the water is blood. I heard people were crying ,they were trying to find their families among the ruins ,which hard to find it. Scream and shouts were like the sound background of this disaster. I can't believe it , I lost everything that I have , I forgot to taste what's happiness.
They were trying to get out from ruins , the sounds was thunderous when the buildings crashed to their little body. As you know that without  telling you,you can directly imagine how the condition is. A small body asked for help ,but no one couldn't  help ,they were busy with their safety ,they were trying to survive but they couldn't escape it. Can you imagine a giant rubble crashed them , an asphalt road  split so that they fit into it. Oh my goodness ,the only thing that we can do for them is pray hard for them ,pray for our neighbor country . And hopefully this would be the last disaster that came to us. Stay strong my brothers and sisters in Philippines out there , may God bless you on what has happened to you.

Ethanol emulsion for testing of fats

Materials :                                                                                               

- Ethanol                                                                                                

- Sticky rice (Lontong)                                                                            

- Brownies                                                                                              

- Rice                                                                                                      

- Coconut oil                                                                                           

- Alcohol                                                                                                 

- Bread

Equipments :
 - Test tube
- Filter funnel
- Mortar & Pestle

- Stiring rod
- Test tube rack
- Filter paper

Preparation of a solid sample :

1. Completely crushes adequate amount of food with a clean and dry mortar and pestle.

2. Transfer an adequate amount of crushed food sample to a clean test tube

3. Adds 2cm ethanol above the food sample

4. Shakes the test tube thoroughly and safely .

5. Allows the solid to settle for about 3 min

6. Decants the ethanol carefully into a clean,dry test tube without transference of food particles.

7. Adds 2cm of de-ionized water to the test tube

8. Compares each result with the negative control

9. Compares the heights of the emulsion layer of all the samples

Process

• Add the food sample to 2 cm3 of ethanol, shake well.
• Allow to settle in a test tube rack for 2 minutes for food to dissolve in ethanol.
• Empty any clear liquid into a test tube containing 2 cm3 of distilled H2O.
• A MILKY-WHITE EMULSION is a positive result: lipid is present.
• If the mixture remains clear, there are no fats present in the sample

The Fabulous Tree

 

When I was child , I was known as a fabulous girl. I loved to play soccer with my friends even all of them are boys

,but I have a reason because my girlfriends didn't want to play soccer.

I liked to see the view around the soccer field ,because the field was on the top of the hill ,the field was surrounded by trees ,when the trees were blown by the wind, they flapped their leaves with thundering sounds.After playing soccer I liked to sit below a shady tree. I felt so comfortable.This tree was different from the others. It has a big hole in the middle of it's stem, so I can put anything inside it. Sometimes I like to devoted or wrote a story then I put it inside it's hole.When I was taking a rest , I was fanned by it's leaves which made me so sleepy. I felt like it was my best friend who always be there when I was suffering from the sunlight. My fabulous tree had soft bark,that didn't make my skin sore when I leaned on it. I thought this tree was created for me to be my friend when I was alone. That's why I named it the fabulous tree.

Testing starch in foods

The Presence Of Starch

Starch : An odorless tasteless white substance occuring widely in plant tissue and obtained chiefly from cereals and potatoes. It is polysaccharide that functions as a carbohydrate store and is an important constituent of the human diet.

- Test tube rack                                                  - Banana
- Fume hood                                                      - Potato

- Knife
- Pestle/mortar
- Glass rod
- Pipette
- Tongs
- Bunsen burner
- Breaker


Steps :
1. Divide the banana into two ,add 3 drops of Iodine solution
2. Divide the potato into two ,add 3 drops of Iodine solution
3. Put the grape juice into test tube ,add 3 drops of Iodine solution
4. Do all those things inside the fume hood
5. You can see the result

In order to perform this project, we must use Iodine solution as a reagent for starch. One drop of this solution on any sample can detect starch by changing the color of the tested area to dark blue.We will be using the following samples :

North Borneo Railway

Last year, I, as a travel writer, went to Borneo.I used a train to Borneo through North Borneo Railway . I was very interested in travelling  but much disappointed because of the bad services at the local station. There was no time table shown and I was uncertain what time I can go back to find a famous place and I couldn't enjoy my travel . It was actually a vintage train and I didn't know whether it was comfortable or not.The facilities were not completed yet , no air conditioner, it was rickety and also the food were less tasty. I prefered not to eat the food , I'd rather starved than to eat those odd foods. The journey made me so dizzy. I was not physically fit and in the end I threw up. So,when you are going to visit Borneo and use the North Borneo Railway , you should bring plenty of plastics and bring lots of food.

  I thought this would be the best time in my life, apparently it was not .This experience must have a historical value and I believe it is inappropriate for travelers who are not ready for the condition.

My Childhood Memory

I was looking the view around my house , at that time, I was standing on a tree so I can feel the wind touching my skin. The wind pierced to my ears and blowed the tree , it was like I'm flying like a bird. Suddenly a women was approaching me ,she spirted a scented perfume to her body, so when the wind was blowing ,the smell was change it was become fragrant . I couldn't smell the fresh air again then  I asked the women to keep away from me and I said " if you were here the air was getting smelly!" She was resentful by my words then she waggled her hair and go away. I knew that my deportment was annoying.

The scullery maid....was cooling her cheeks by the lily pond. There had always been lilies there, self-sown from wind-dropped seed, floating red and white on the green plates of their leaves. Water, for hundreds of years, had silted down into the hollow, and lay there four or five feet deep over a black cushion of mud....fish swam—gold, splashed with white....poised in the blue patch made by the sky....It was in that deep centre, in that black heart, that the lady had drowned herself.

Dearest, I feel certain I am going mad again....And I shan’t recover this time.....I am doing what seems the best thing to do....I can’t fight any longer....Everything has gone from me but the certainty of your goodness. I can’t go on spoiling your life any longer....I don’t think two people could have been happier than we have been. V.

The writer’s purpose is to give information about the scullary maid’s life and to create sympathy.This shows that her life was very pathetic by seeing the text , the writer uses normative words and concedes that the scullary maid’s life was full of sorrow . It is preposterous to describe “cooling her cheeks by the lily pond”  whereas lily pond is a vegetable, actually it is describing that her daily activity is just living in scullary ,washing dishes and only vegetables that always accompany her everyday.

An indignation picture of scullary maid is created that she has given up of her life ,it is described by “ I shan’t recover this time” it means that it ever happened to her. Nostalgia is created in her mind “ i don’t think two people could have been happier than we have been “ that she ever did something with someone  and to evoke the past of her memory that she convinces  that she and that someone are happier than the others.

Enzymes

Polar and Non-Polar Molecules

Molecules can be grouped as polar or non-polar molecules. Some are also in between.

The arrangement or geometry of the atoms in some molecules is such that one end of the molecule has a positive electrical charge and the other side has a negative charge. If this is the case, the molecule is called a polar molecule, meaning that it has electrical poles. Otherwise, it is called a non-polar molecule.

Whether molecules are polar or non-polar determines if they will mix to form a solution or that they don't mix well together. Also, polar molecules are water soluble, while non-polar molecules are fat soluble.

Polar molecules

Chemical bonding is the result of either an atom sharing one or more outer orbit electrons with another atom or an atom taking outer orbit electrons from the atom with which it is bonding. Normally, an atom has an even distribution of electrons in the orbits or shells, but if more end up on one side that the other in a molecule, there can be a resulting electrical field in that area.

Water is polar

Water is a polar molecule because of the way the atoms bind in the molecule such that there are excess electrons on the Oxygen side and a lack or excess of positive charges on the Hydrogen side of the molecule.

Examples of polar molecules

Examples of polar molecules of materials that are gases under standard conditions are:

Also, Ethanol is polar, since its oxygen molecule draws electrons towards it due to its high electro-negativity, causing a negative charge around itself.

Non-polar molecules

A non-polar molecule is one that the electrons are distributed more symmetrically and thus does not have an abundance of charges at the opposite sides. The charges all cancel out each other.

Examples of non-polar liquids

Most hydrocarbon liquids are non-polar molecules. Examples include:

• Toluene
• Gasoline

Alkynes are non-polar because they cannot be dissolved in water, as do polar molecules. However, alkynes but do dissolve in other non-polar substances. A rule is that like substances dissolve in like substances.

Examples of non-polar gases

Common examples of non-polar gases are the noble or inert gases, including:

• Helium (He)
• Neon (Ne)
• Krypton (Kr)
• Xenon (Xe)

Other non-polar gases include:

• Hydrogen (H₂)
• Nitrogen (N₂)
• Oxygen (O₂)
• Carbon Dioxide (CO₂)
• Methane (CH₄)
• Ethylene (C₂H₄)

Since Chloroform is more soluble in fats than in water, it is also classified as non-polar.

-The writer creates an Oxymoron words,actually all of them are oxymoron.By taking the word 'living dead' means the writer is alive but it seems like dead.

'This heart bawling like the rain falling down' is Simile .The simile suggests that the writer's sound is bawling and growling. The writer's feeling is very mournful. Further attraction, the writer create that her life is depressed. By taking the word 'Like the rain falling down' is like breaking into a million pieces and falling everywhere.

Feeling warmer like sunrise' is the example of Simile, the writer creates that her feeling is happy. It might be when the writer meet with someone , the writer act like a 'cold ice' means the writer is very nervous and can't do anything.

'Butterflies are grunting in my stomach' grunting is the example of Onomatopoeia. It seems to copy the loud and snore sounds of animal in stomach.

'Drizzling rain is falling down' Drizzling is the example of Onomatopoeia. It sounds like the water dripping from the sky and hitting the metal thing , like roof tiles.

'But I'm still in your reflection' is Metaphor. However metaphor suggests the writer is living in a place that really comfortable and doesn't want to leave it.

Al Taqwa goes to Thousand Island

Altaqwa college goes to Thousand Island ;) Kita pergi ke Pulau Seribu pas bulan Juni dengan menggunakan Kapal dan menempuh perjalanan selama 3 jam.*lama juga. Ngeliat yang lain pada pulas ,tapi aku,Putri, Cut Nadia ,Risa dll malah asik foto-foto di luar sambil ketiup angin yang sepoi". *hahaha narsis juga. Disana kita snorkling, naik banana boat dll. Sampe-sampe pas aku sama Indah & Hanin jalan-jalan nyari kepiting ehh malah nemu uang 10.000 hahaha. terus kita jajanin tuh uang buat beli es krim wkwkwk, tp kita baru tau kalo nemu uang walaupun di tempat sepi, seharusnya gk boleh di ambil.*ups kan gk tau.Pokoknya Excursion kemaren gak akan terlupakan deh pokonya ;) :D 

IKHLASUNNIYAH

Intinya adalah buat apa kita melakukan banyak hal tetapi tidak ikhlas, itu samasaja bohong. Kita sudah capek-capek mengerjakannya tetapi tidak mendapatkan pahala .
